Through this scheme, the Marginal Farmers, Small farmers, Scheduled Caste/Schedule Tribe Farmers, Women Farmers, Big Farmers and Institutions are provided with a subsidy on the total cost or ₹25,000/₹ per hectare whichever is less for the installation of Sprinkler / Drip Micro Irrigation Systems.

Benefits
Subsidy of 90% of the total cost (or) ₹25,000/₹ per hectare whichever is less for Marginal Farmers, Small Farmers, Scheduled Caste/Schedule Tribe and Women Farmers.
Subsidy of 70% of the total cost (or) ₹25,000/₹ per hectare whichever is less for Big Farmers/Institutions.
If the farmer completes the work on their own fund, the subsidy is released by Electronic clearing system to the farmer's bank account. If the farmer chooses manufacturers/dealers, the subsidy is released directly to the manufacturers/dealers' bank account after obtaining a satisfactory completion letter from the farmer.
Eligibility
- The applicant should be a Marginal Farmer/Small farmer/Scheduled Caste Farmer/Schedule Tribe Farmer/Women Farmer/Big Farmer/Institution.
- The farmers should own cultivable agricultural land in the Union Territory of Puducherry along with an own/leased tubewell with adequate water and pumping system.
- Farmers who have already availed the maximum subsidy amount during the past 10 years (sprinkler) or past 8 years (drip) are not eligible.
- Farmers who availed part of the maximum subsidy in the past 10/8 years for additional area will be paid the balance amount (after deducting the already noted assistance). The 10-year (sprinkler)/8-year (drip) period on the land is not affected by ownership change.
- Farmers who availed sprinkler earlier are also eligible for drip (and vice versa) if they opt to cultivate an intercrop for 3 years.
Documents required
- A Revenue Certificate in the prescribed format issued by an authority not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar of the Revenue Department.
- Photocopy of the Field Measurement Book (FMB) sketch of the land consented for the installation of the micro irrigation system, electricity policy card of the tubewell used for irrigation, and the first-page (bearing name, address and account number) and last transaction page of the Bank passbook.
- Farmers belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes should enclose the Caste Certificate issued by an authority not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar of the Revenue Department for claiming preference.

The advertisement inviting applications is published in leading local Tamil dailies in Puducherry and Karaikal regions and through All India Radio. Applicants can obtain the prescribed application form from the respective Uzhavar Udhaviyagams or the concerned authority (Puducherry: Office of the Hydrogeologist-II, State Ground Water Unit & Soil Conservation, Thattanchavady, Puducherry-9; Karaikal: Office of the Additional Director of Agriculture, Karaikal), fill in all mandatory fields, attach the required documents, and submit them — a unique seniority number is assigned on receipt. Alternatively, apply online via the e-District Portal of the Government of Puducherry: register a new membership, login, select the department-wise scheme, fill the online form, upload documents, agree to the declaration, and submit — noting the application number (also sent to your registered mobile/email) for tracking.
