About the MUDRA Loan

This MUDRA loan calculator does two jobs at once. Enter the amount you need and it tells you which Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana category the loan falls under — Shishu, Kishore, Tarun or Tarun Plus — and, using your expected interest rate and tenure, it estimates the monthly EMI and total interest. It also lists the documents lenders typically ask for.

The tool is meant for micro and small business owners — shopkeepers, artisans, service providers, small manufacturers and first-time entrepreneurs — who are planning a collateral-free loan through a bank, NBFC or microfinance institution. Knowing the category in advance helps you approach the lender with the right amount, a realistic repayment plan and a complete file.

The category depends only on the loan amount, using the slabs coded into the tool: up to ₹50,000 is Shishu, up to ₹5 lakh is Kishore, up to ₹10 lakh is Tarun and up to ₹20 lakh is Tarun Plus. The EMI depends on the rate and tenure you enter, because MUDRA has no single interest rate — each lender sets its own.

How to use it

  1. 1Enter the loan amount you need; the MUDRA category appears for any amount up to ₹20 lakh.
  2. 2Enter the interest rate you expect, or the rate your lender has quoted.
  3. 3Enter the repayment tenure in years.
  4. 4Review the category, monthly EMI and total interest, and go through the list of typical documents before you visit the lender.

How this is calculated

Category by loan amount: up to ₹50,000 = Shishu; ₹50,001 to ₹5 lakh = Kishore; above ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh = Tarun; above ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh = Tarun Plus; above ₹20 lakh = outside MUDRA. EMI = P × r × (1 + r)^n ÷ ((1 + r)^n − 1), where P = loan amount, r = annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100 and n = years × 12. Total interest = EMI × n − P.

Frequently asked questions

What are the MUDRA loan categories and limits used in this calculator?

The tool classifies loans up to ₹50,000 as Shishu, ₹50,001 to ₹5 lakh as Kishore, above ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh as Tarun, and above ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh as Tarun Plus. Scheme limits are revised by the government from time to time, so confirm the current slabs on mudra.org.in or with your lender before applying.

Who can apply under the Tarun Plus category?

As coded in this tool, Tarun Plus covers loans above ₹10 lakh and up to ₹20 lakh and is meant only for borrowers who have already taken and repaid an earlier Tarun loan. A first-time borrower who needs more than ₹10 lakh should check the current guidelines with the lender or consider other collateral-free routes.

What is the interest rate on a MUDRA loan?

There is no single MUDRA interest rate. Banks, NBFCs and microfinance institutions price these loans according to their own policies and the borrower's profile. The 11.5% pre-filled in the calculator is only a starting assumption — replace it with the rate your lender quotes to get a realistic EMI.

Which documents are usually required for a MUDRA loan?

The tool lists the usual set: PAN and Aadhaar, a six-month bank statement, Udyam registration, business proof or a quotation for the item being purchased, photographs and address proof. For amounts above ₹5 lakh it also adds the last income-tax return. Individual lenders may ask for more, so treat the list as a baseline.

What if I need more than ₹20 lakh?

The calculator flags amounts above ₹20 lakh as outside MUDRA and does not show a category or EMI for them. For larger requirements, look at a bank loan covered by the CGTMSE credit guarantee or a relevant state or central scheme. The scheme eligibility checker on this site can suggest routes that fit your profile.

Does this MUDRA loan calculator tell me whether my loan will be approved?

No. It only classifies the amount and estimates the EMI. Sanction depends on the lender's own assessment of your business activity, repayment capacity, banking record and documents. Use the result to plan a sensible amount and tenure, and do not treat it as an offer, an approval or a confirmation of eligibility.
