Working days leave out weekends only — public, bank and state holidays are not removed, because they differ by state and by employer.

About the Date Difference

How many days are left on a 90-day credit period? When does a 30-day notice end? How many working days does a project really have? This calculator counts the calendar days between any two dates, breaks them into weeks and days, and shows the same span as years, months and days for longer periods such as leases, warranties and loan tenures.

It also counts working days by leaving out Saturdays and Sundays, with a switch for a six-day week in which only Sundays are off — the pattern followed by many shops, factories and offices in India. Public and bank holidays are not removed, because they vary by state and employer; subtract those yourself for an exact figure.

The second mode moves a date forwards or backwards by a number of days. Use it to find the due date of an invoice with 45 days of credit, the last date for a reply to a notice, or the day a 180-day period began. By default the tool starts from the first day of the current financial year, so you can see at once how many days have passed.

How to use it

  1. 1Choose Days between two dates, or Add or subtract days.
  2. 2Pick the start and end dates. Tick the inclusive option if both the first and the last day should be counted.
  3. 3Tick the six-day week option if Saturdays are working days for you.
  4. 4In the add or subtract mode, enter a starting date and the number of days to see the resulting date and its weekday.

How this is calculated

Calendar days = end date − start date (add 1 if both days are counted). Weeks and days = calendar days ÷ 7 and the remainder. Working days = calendar days − Sundays − Saturdays (Saturdays stay in for a six-day week). Adding days: resulting date = start date + N days, the start date itself not being counted.

Frequently asked questions

Does the count include the start and end dates?

By default the tool gives the difference between the dates, so 1 April to 10 April is 9 days. Tick the inclusive option to count both the first and the last day, which makes it 10. Use the inclusive count for things like leave or hotel stays, and the plain difference for credit periods and notice periods.

How are working days counted?

The tool goes through the period and leaves out every Saturday and Sunday, or only Sundays if you choose the six-day week. It does not know about public holidays, bank holidays, second and fourth Saturdays or your company calendar, so deduct those separately when the exact number matters.

How do I find the due date of an invoice with 45 days of credit?

Switch to Add or subtract days, enter the invoice or delivery date, type 45 and keep the direction as Add. The result is the last date for payment, shown with its weekday. For payments to micro and small enterprises, our MSME payment due date calculator also applies the legal 45-day cap and estimates interest.

Are leap years taken into account?

Yes. Every calculation uses real calendar dates, so 29 February is counted whenever it falls inside the period. From 1 January to 31 December is 364 days in a normal year and 365 in a leap year, and adding 365 days to a date does not always land on the same date in the following year.

Can I count backwards from a deadline?

Yes. In the add or subtract mode choose Subtract, enter the deadline and the number of days. It is a quick way to find the latest date to send a notice, start a task or file a document so that a fixed number of clear days remain before the deadline.
