About the UPI QR Generator
A UPI QR code is simply a payment link drawn as a picture. When a customer scans it, their app opens with your UPI ID, your name and, if you wish, the amount and a note already filled in. This generator builds that link in the standard upi://pay format and turns it into a sharp 512-pixel PNG that you can print, share on WhatsApp or place on an invoice.
It is meant for shopkeepers, freelancers, tutors, housing societies and small businesses that want a quick code for one account without signing up for anything. Leave the amount blank for a counter code that works for every sale, or fix the amount for a specific invoice, subscription or event fee so that the payer cannot mistype it.
The code is made entirely on your device. Your UPI ID, name and amount are never sent to our servers, and we do not handle or see any payment — the money moves directly between the banks through the UPI network. Because a single wrong character sends money to a stranger, always scan the code yourself and pay a small amount before you print it.
How to use it
- 1Enter your UPI ID exactly as it appears in your payment app, for example name@bank.
- 2Enter the payee name — your own name or the business name registered with the bank.
- 3Optionally add a fixed amount and a short note such as an invoice number.
- 4Download the PNG or copy the UPI link, then scan it with any UPI app and send ₹1 to confirm the name and account before printing or sharing it.
How this is calculated
upi://pay?pa=<UPI ID>&pn=<payee name>&am=<amount>&cu=INR&tn=<note> pa and pn are always included; am and tn are added only when you fill them in. Spaces and special characters are URL-encoded, and the QR code uses error-correction level M so that it still scans when slightly worn.
Frequently asked questions
Is this UPI QR code generator safe to use?
The code is generated inside your browser, so your UPI ID and name are not uploaded or stored by us. A QR code of this kind only points a payment towards the UPI ID it contains, and every payment still has to be approved by the payer with their UPI PIN. The real risk is a typing mistake, which is why a small test payment is essential.
Will the QR code work with every UPI app?
It follows the standard UPI link format used across the network, so apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and bank apps should read it. Behaviour can differ slightly between apps, particularly for pre-filled amounts and notes, so test the code in the apps your customers use most.
Should I put a fixed amount in the QR code?
Fix the amount when the code is for one invoice, a fee or a subscription, because it prevents mistyped payments. Leave it blank for a shop counter or a general collection code, so that each payer can enter a different amount. Remember that banks and apps cap how much can be paid in a single transaction.
Does the QR code expire?
No. It is a static code that holds only your UPI ID, name and any amount or note, so it keeps working for as long as that UPI ID is active. If you close the bank account or change the UPI ID, old printed codes stop working and must be replaced with a new one.
Is this the same as a bank or merchant QR code?
Not quite. Banks and payment companies issue merchant QR codes linked to a merchant account, often with settlement reports, a soundbox and support. This tool makes a simple code for any UPI ID. It is fine for small collections, but a growing business usually benefits from a proper merchant account.
