About the Invoice Generator

This free GST invoice generator lets you prepare a clean tax invoice in your browser and print it or save it as a PDF. Fill in your business and customer details, add line items with quantity, rate and GST percentage, choose whether the supply is within the state or inter-state, and the invoice preview updates as you type.

It is made for small traders, freelancers, consultants and new GST registrants who raise only a few invoices and do not yet need billing software. Nothing is uploaded: the details you type stay in your browser and are not stored on our servers. That also means the invoice is not saved, so download the PDF before closing the page.

Totals follow directly from your line items. Each line is quantity multiplied by rate, with GST at 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% or 28% applied per line. For a same-state supply the tax is divided equally into CGST and SGST; for an inter-state supply it is shown as IGST. The grand total is the subtotal plus tax.

How to use it

  1. 1Enter your business name, address, phone and GSTIN, then the customer's name and GSTIN if they have one.
  2. 2Set the invoice number and date, and choose same-state (CGST + SGST) or inter-state (IGST) supply.
  3. 3Add each item with its description, quantity, rate and GST percentage; use “+ Add item” for more lines.
  4. 4Check the invoice preview, then click “Print / Save as PDF” and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog.

How this is calculated

Line amount = quantity × rate. Line GST = line amount × GST % ÷ 100. Subtotal = sum of line amounts. Tax = sum of line GST. Same-state supply: CGST = SGST = tax ÷ 2. Inter-state supply: IGST = tax. Invoice total = subtotal + tax.

Frequently asked questions

Is this GST invoice generator really free?

Yes. There is no charge, no login and no limit on the number of invoices you can make. The printed invoice carries a small footer line mentioning that it was generated on Vyapaar Vaani. If you need saved customers, numbering sequences, stock tracking or return filing, dedicated billing or accounting software will serve you better.

Is my invoice data stored anywhere?

No. The invoice is built entirely in your browser, and nothing you type is uploaded or stored by us. The other side of this is that the page does not remember your invoice — refreshing or closing the tab clears it. Save the PDF, and keep your own record of invoice numbers.

When should I choose CGST and SGST, and when IGST?

Choose same-state when the supplier and the place of supply are in the same state; the tax is then split equally between CGST and SGST. Choose inter-state when the place of supply is in another state; the full tax is charged as IGST. Place-of-supply rules have special cases, so check with your accountant if unsure.

How do I save the invoice as a PDF?

Click “Print / Save as PDF”. In the browser's print dialog, select “Save as PDF” or “Microsoft Print to PDF” as the destination and save the file. Only the invoice sheet is printed — the form and the rest of the page are hidden automatically by the print settings built into the tool.

Can I use it if I am not registered under GST?

The GSTIN fields are optional, so the form works without them. Remember that only a GST-registered supplier can charge GST, so an unregistered business should keep the GST rate at 0% on every line. Composition dealers and suppliers of exempt goods issue a bill of supply rather than a tax invoice, which this tool does not produce.

Does the GST invoice generator add HSN codes, an IRN or a QR code?

The layout has no separate HSN or SAC column or place-of-supply field, so type such details into the item description where you need them. It does not generate an IRN or QR code. Businesses above the notified e-invoicing turnover threshold must use the government's invoice registration system; check the current threshold on the GST portal.
